microLEX Systems A/S is a test tool and test solution provider in the area of mixed-signal electronics, system test, board test, etc. The company was established in mid 1992 by 4 engineers as a spin-off from the Danish research institute for applied electronics, ElektronikCentralen (now DELTA Danish Electronics, Light & Acoustics). Today the Company includes among its staff a total of 17 engineers.

In the years since its inception, the Company has grown with an annual compound rate of about 25 %/year, and has become a leading European supplier of mixed-signal test solutions in the fields of electronics. The Company has up to now delivered systems solutions that are used in several countries:

Austria Germany Norway
Belgium Hong Kong Portugal
China Holland Singapore
Denmark Hungary Sweden
Finland Malaysia Switzerland
France Mexico

Customers include professional companies in business sectors like telecoms/cellular phones, industrial control, space business, consumer electronics, medico applications (hearing-aid testing), automotive, etc.

Company Mission

Our mission is:

  • To deliver professional mixed-signal test solutions, flexible, and optimised for ease-of-use, fast testprogram development and cost optimised performance.
  • To tailor solutions to customer's needs - and in close liaison with the users.
  • To have satisfied customers
  • To offer long-term commitment to the market

Strategic Partnerships

microLEX has a clear strategy of pursuing strategic partnerships in the market. As part of this strategy, microLEX has since more years been an Alliance Partner of National Instruments, worked closely together with companies like Interface Technology (digital Test), Integrated Measurement Systems (engineering test of mixed-signal ASICs), JTAG Technologies (boundary scan test), etc.

Focused Test Solutions

The basic concept of the company is to provide application-focused solution to the users. Pursuing this, microLEX has a strategy of "buying-the-best, making-the-rest", i.e. typically buys the best instrumentation available, and develops the software and missing hardware elements to make the solutions form complete, cost effective and advanced systems to meet the needs of the market. The systems have open-system-architectures like VXI-bus, PCI, PXI, GPIB, "M"-modules, etc. featuring ease of maintenance and allowing users to integrate own solutions in a given system. One element of utmost importance in the business of microLEX has been to provide solutions that are very user friendly, and lend themselves towards use of designers as well as test people, aiming at bridging the gap between design and test, especially in the fields of mixed-signal.

Through the use of extensive and performance optimised software tools, e.g. test sequencers, limiter functions, software instrumentation and test databases combined with preferably open architecture hardware modules from leading instrument makers, the solutions offered are cost effective and promise a large flexibility and upgradability to meet also future needs. Hence, a user only has to satisfy the immediate functionality needs of a system, leaving expansions to a later point in time if or when requirements of a given system change. This allows the user to take advantage of improved cost and performance of tomorrows instrumentation as well.

Cooperative R&D

microLEX Systems has been active in cooperative European industrial projects, e.g. under the ESPRIT programme. In mixed-signal test projects like ESPRIT 21.261 "AMITY" and ESPRIT 26.877 "OPTIMISTIC", microLEX has cooperated with leading companies like Bosch, Nokia Mobile Phones and others. Several results of these projects are today included in the microLEX solutions to industry.

Management Profiles

Birger Schneider is a founder of microLEX Systems and has been managing the Company since the its inception in 1992. Previously, Mr. Schneider worked 18 years at the Danish research centre for applied electronics, ElektronikCentralen, for the first 13 years as responsible for microelectronic testing, including PCB testing, and in the latter 5 years as part of the general management, director of technology. Over the years, he
has held several positions in national and international engineering societies, including vice chair of the "Electrotechnical Science", Danish Academy of Technical Sciences, chairman of the European wide computer aided design for VLSI workshops (CAVE), chairman of the IEEE Computer Society "European Test Technology Technical Committee", etc. Mr. Schneider is also a founder and director of microLEX Consult ApS.
Soren P. Petersen (M.Sc.E.E.) holds the position of Engineering Manager at microLEX. Prior to joining microLEX, Mr. Petersen worked with DELTA Danish Electronics, Light & Acoustics (formerly ElectronikCentralen) from 1982 to 2000, first as a development engineer, and later on as a department head. Prior to joining DELTA, Soren P. Petersen worked 3 years with Pharmacia Electronics A/S and Novo Diagnostics Systems A/S. He has been involved in a multitude of development projects for industrial, military and space applications, and in recent years he had a deep involvement in safety critical systems.

Christian Koefoed (M.Sc.E.E) is leader of the microLEX Applications and Support Team. He joined microLEX in June 1999 after being with Intel Denmark in the Network Quality Lab for a short period. Before that he worked for 14 years at the Danish research centre for applied electronics, ElektronikCentralen, and DELTA Danish Electronics, Light & Acoustics.
